After the release for Trovarobato of the twin works IVXVI and IXVXI, as well as a musically
productive period culminating in the launch of his own record company Antinational Noise,
musician and producer Giacomo Giunchedi alias SACROBOSCO has a new album in store,
his third to be precise, which will be released by his own newly formed label. Opening the
door to this chapter is the single Once, out on March 14th as the first excerpt from the
record and distributed by Audioglobe.
In this song, as in the entire album, the artist continues his electronic experimentation
venturing into more lo-fi territories that verge on the concept of Hauntology, intending to
honor a cult object from the ’90s: the Walkman, with its unique mechanism that allowed
tapes to be overdubbed multiple times, causing hidden and never completely erased tracks
to resurface, destined to reappear during the listening experience. A primarily affective
connection, resulting in a sound manipulation operation to reveal new dimensions, among
overlaps and fragments that return from the past.
Covered in reverberations and soft, suspended beats, the song seems to unfold melodically
in the hypnotic rustle of an old tape reemerging from the stream of consciousness. Between
vaporwave and UK Garage sounds, the absolute protagonist is the sample of Show Me Love
by Robin S., a ‘90s house classic that is intertwined with other samples until it gives life to a
new vocal section immersed in a dreamy, hazy and melancholic atmosphere. The release is
enriched with two additional tracks included as B-sides, Now Is Always and Sleepwalker,
which continue on the same wavelength, encouraging an even deeper immersion into the
sonic suggestions and enhancing the experience with a sense of continuous temporal flow.
Through manipulation, distortion and recomposition, Sacrobosco displays the fragmented
representation of a collective remembering, returning excerpts of memory in a timeless
loop. In doing so, he reaffirms his mastery in shaping sound, fueling anticipation for an
album that promises to be filled with new explorations and musical evolutions, fueling
anticipation for an album that promises to be full of new musical explorations and
evolutions.
